The issuance of passports valid for 10 years is resumed
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, from September 20, all diplomatic missions and consular institutions of the Russian Federation in foreign countries will resume the acceptance of applications for the issuance of passports valid for 10 years. The technical difficulties that led to the temporary suspension of the issuance of such passports have been overcome. Additional measures have been taken to ensure stable work on the issuance of passports to citizens of the Russian Federation living abroad.

Issuance of passports valid for 10 years temporarily suspended
Dear applicants!
According to the Consular Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since August 26, the acceptance of applications for the issuance of passports valid for 10 years has been temporarily suspended due to the need to reformat the electronic media. Passports valid for 5 years will be issued as usual - as primary passports, or instead of valid, used, lost or damaged passports.

Russia lifted entry restrictions for foreigners
Measures to restrict the entry of foreigners into Russia, which were used to combat the spread of COVID-19, have been significantly softened.
Foreigners from any country can again enter Russia by plane or by sea without restrictions on the purpose of the trip.
In the near future, Russian visa centers will resume accepting documents for issuing visas to foreigners in the manner that was in force before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The requirement for a negative PCR test to enter Russia still remains.

QR codes cancelled

Private visas for close relatives of Russian citizens
On July 12, 2021, paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 1 of the Federal Law of July 1, 2021 No. 270-FZ "On Amendments to the Federal Law" on the Procedure for Exiting the Russian Federation and Entry into the Russian Federation" and Article 5 of the Federal Law “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation”. According to the adopted amendments, a clear definition of the concept of close relatives is given, which are understood as: spouse, parents (including adoptive parents), children (including adopted children), spouses of children, full and half brothers and sisters, grandfathers, grandmothers, grandchildren .
Close relatives and family members can apply for an ordinary private visa for up to three months on the basis of a written application from a citizen of the Russian Federation for the entry of a foreign citizen who is a close relative or a family member .
An application can be submitted by a Russian citizen in person, and if a citizen of the Russian Federation does not have such an opportunity, to obtain a visa his close relative will require the original of the application certified by a Russian notary. It must contain the last name, first name, patronymic, date of birth, citizenship, gender, passport number, registration address and address of the actual place of residence of a Russian citizen (in case of residence in the Russian Federation), as well as last name, first name, other names, date birth, citizenship, gender, passport number, multiplicity of visa, purpose of travel, requested period of entry, place of expected residence of the applicant and city of visit.
Along with the application, it is necessary to submit originals or notarized copies of documents confirming the degree of relationship (certificates of marriage, birth, etc.), which, after copying, must be returned to the applicant, as well as documents, mentioned in paragraph 46 of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of June 9, 2003 No. 335 "On approval of the Regulation on establishing the form of a visa, the procedure and conditions for its registration and issuance, extending its validity, restoring it in case of loss, as well as the procedure for canceling a visa."
Please note that the concept of an application (request), signed by a Russian citizen for a joint entry into the Russian Federation with a family member, is no longer applicable.
